Tell us about why you utilise Instagram Stories for customer validation?

As the company grows and products expand, I am always on the hunt for my customers feedback and opinions on certain elements of the business. Sometimes it’s really hard to know what your customers' needs are, so I find it easier to just go straight to the source and ask them!

One of the most helpful tools I have found for this is using Instagram stories as a way to get in front of my target audience and trial some market validation using the poll, quiz and question box feature to gather their perspective.

How do you use Instagram Stories to gather your customers opinions?

I have found that doing customer and market validation via stories gives me quick and easy access to my audience. My customers are already on the Instagram platform and it doesn't require much effort or time for them to quickly answer the questions that I am wondering. Below are the 3 main features that I use to gather feedback.

  • The poll and quiz feature on Instagram stories is a great way to display some of the options you have been thinking about (whether that be for a product, service, packaging or even branding) and works as a way to narrow down what option your ideal client would prefer.

  • The question box is a way to gather more individualized ideas or perspectives as people can enter their own text. Within Morrison Five I have used this feature to explore what other colours and styles of earrings my audience is wanting to see in the online store, as well as gathering reviews of the products they have purchased or the usability of the website

Making sure that I do customer and market validation when launching a new product gives me a clear direction before I invest more time and money into an idea that potentially might not work or that my customer may not be interested in.
